One AMT innovation is the angular head nutrunner with torque control directly integrated in the output shaft. As a result, changes in drive efficiency due to wear have no influence on the torque. The fastening process is completed correctly, based on accurate torque and regardless of the mechanical condition of the angular drive.
The quality of a fastened connection does not depend solely on the use of high-quality nutrunners. It also depends upon the operators who are using these tools. While considering solutions for our customers, therefore, we do not just think about the individual connections but also include the tool operator and configuration of his/her workstation in our design process. By doing this, errors can be avoided with the appropriate workstation layout. Fault recognition and troubleshooting, using innovative monitoring strategies, remains front and center.
Our nutrunner systems are, for example, capable of monitoring the correct fastening position, using camera, ultrasonic triangulation, or our patented Railnet system. As a result, missing fasteners and/or operations at the wrong fastener location are detected and avoided.

AMT offers a broad spectrum of nutrunner controls, which were developed as a result of diversified requirements from our customer base. A modular systems architecture provides custom solutions for even the most complex demands.
The SMD10 is our most cost-effective introductory model into the world of electric nutrunning technology. It offers up to 15 nutrunning programs and accommodates our handheld tools with reaction torque sensor.
The SMXP sets new standards at the high end of the performance scale. Thanks to an integrated PC, there are almost no limits in regard to the nutrunning process, network capabilities, and integration with higher level host computers and quality management systems. The modular software architecture on the SMXP makes it possible to adapt control software to just about any application. And what if the software, despite its powerful range of functions, still doesn‘t meet your needs? No problem! Our strength lies in developing individual software solutions for customer requirements, building on our tried and true base software.
The functionality of the SMXP also allows the connection of multi-channel, decentralized control topologies. Up to 9 cost-effective SMX10 controls can be connected to the SMXP. The SMX10 is just as powerful as the SMXP when it comes to the nutrunning process, but without an integrated PC. For this reason, the interface to higher level systems takes place through the SMXP. The resulting master-slave configuration offers a high range of performance at a favorable price.
The SMXP Twin control was developed for efficient and cost-effective 2-channel applications. It offers the same capabilities as the SMXP control. Despite the 2-channel configuration, no cooling element is required for the SMXP Twin control.

Assembly Systems
In order to design a suitable assembly work station for nutrunning operations, more is required than simply the selection of a nutrunner and nutrunner control. Special handling devices are frequently required to guide and support the nutrunner tool. In addition, modules are required for operator guidance and graphic display, e.g. monitors, stacklights, and operator panels. The selection of the correct tool socket by the operator can be facilitated and monitored by the use of a controlled socket tray. If sensor systems are integrated to monitor the exact spindle position, then a consistent control and documentation of the nutrunning process can be obtained.
As specialists in assembly technology, we deliver more than just nutrunning technology – we also design and deliver the complete work station. At the start of a project, our skilled sales engineering staff is always available to assist you in planning the required systems. A broad spectrum of standard solutions is available that can be customized to individual application requirements. Complex handling devices are designed in 3D-CAD by our engineering department and presented to our customers for approval. After all necessary optimization steps have been completed, the handling devices are assembled and installed in our plant. Prior to delivery, all customers have the opportunity to test their assembly work stations at our facility.

Ergonomics, capability, and torque repeatability are demands of the automotive industry and their suppliers. The portable, rechargeable tools from AMT satisfy your requirements and so much more. Using a new-generation, high-dynamic motor, it is possible to increase nutrunner power by up to 30 percent. The results are faster and more cost-efficient fastening operations.

AMT built-in nutrunners represent the highest accuracy for tightening fastened connections. For this reason, we recommend the use of action torque data sensors for capturing torque data. The torque is measured as closely as possible to the fastened location, i.e., directly on the output shaft. As a result, changes in the efficiency of right angle or offset gearboxes, due to wear, have no influence on the torque. As soon as the tightening torque is achieved, the fastening process is reliably executed, independent of the mechanical condition of the gearbox.
Built-in nutrunners from AMT are modular in design, i.e., individual components, such as output spindle variants, can be combined to meet production demands. Built-in nutrunners can be easily and compley removed for repair or maintenance purposes.
Even the most reliable tools are subject to natural wear over time. In order to keep this wear from progressing to an unexpected nutrunner breakdown, AMT nutrunners automatically signal when preventive maintenance is required. An integrated nutrunning cycle counter with a load-dependent evaluation ensures that required maintenance is signaled before a tool breaks down. The timely replacement of wear-dependent components results in increased tool availability.

Our control systems are distinguished by their modular and open system architecture. The use of PC technology, in connection with a Windows operating system, offer almost unlimited expansion possibilities. Up to 64 nutrunner channels can be controlled from a single Master PC. High-channel control systems are installed, for cost and space reasons, in electrical cabinets.
As an option, low-channel controls can be configured, based on our compact modules SMX30 and SMX10. These are self-sufficient control modules in space-saving housings that are mounted to an assembly plate. This saves on space, required cable lengths, and installation.
It only stands to reason that all of the data stored by our nutrunner controls can be made available over network interfaces to higher order computer systems for post-processing.

Assembly Systems for Engine Block Assembly
AMT realises small assembly systems for the engine block and cylinder head, designed as rack assembly or as assembly line. AMT is capable of handling the complete rang of assembly tasks, from the raw engine block to the cylinder head to complete engine assembly.
Based on customer requirements, systems can be designed and manufactured as individual assembly stations or as assembly lines with data capture and data processing, including necessary nutrunner technology.

For high-production transfer lines with a low number of different con rod types, we offer our proven slide transfer system with standardized loading and unloading devices.
Modern manufacturing systems are becoming more modular and flexible, in order to offer capabilities for producing the broadest con rod spectrum as possible on a single machining line. Slide transfers are at their limits with these systems, due to the variety in part types. In addition, the machining centers and index table machines place additional demands on the loading and unloading designs.
